In 2018, LSJ Engineering was commissioned by a private client to construct a wood-and-glass staircase.

A client who we have worked for on a commercial basis asked us to design and install a staircase at his home in West London.
The property was quite old and the stairwell ran up three floors.
The challenge here was getting the dimensions of the staircase to fit in the existing opening, and to conform to current building regs, which with some stretching and squeezing we managed to do.
The simple but striking design we settled on allowed plenty of light into the building, having a continuous central laminated glass panel up the centre, and solid oak timber treads with open risers to match the flooring throughout the landings.
The steel stringers were powder-coated a very dark grey giving a nice contrast to the light walls.
